Voile Sheer Curtains
One written price per finished window, after we’ve measured — fabric, lining, track, fixings, fitting and warranty all inside it. Nothing added later.
Voile is the sheer that does the least to the light. A fine, smooth, evenly woven cloth that turns hard Dubai sun into a clean wash rather than a patchwork — no texture across the panel, no shadow pattern on the floor. Of the four sheers we fit, it gives the most even light and the softest fall.
What it does to a view
Voile scatters light gently and consistently, so a view behind it stays legible: edges soften, but a skyline is still a skyline and points of light stay points. The smooth weave gives the eye nothing to catch on, so it reads as a veil rather than a fabric in front of the window. Where the window is the best thing in the room, that is the argument for voile.
Daytime privacy, and what happens after dark
By day voile gives dependable privacy. It sits at mid openness — not the most open of our sheers — and the even weave holds up: your room is darker than the street, and nothing reads through. With your lights on after dark that reverses completely and the room is visible from outside. Every sheer does this; voile is no exception. It is why the layering decision is settled at the measurement, and why most apartments end up with voile in front and a blackout layer behind on a double track.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits high floors with nothing looking in at close range; rooms that already carry pattern in the furniture or the rug and do not need more; and windows near balcony doors, entrances and roads, because a smooth weave sheds dust better than anything else on our sheers page.
It does not suit a ground-floor or podium-level room overlooked from a few metres away. It does not suit anyone who wants the fabric itself to be interesting — close up, voile is plain. And it is not a bedroom answer on its own, because softened light is still light at five in the morning.
The two honest weaknesses
The first is character: voile is flat at arm's length, and in a bare room it can read as builder's fabric rather than a choice. Texture is the fix, and that is a different fabric.
The second is creasing on arrival: fine smooth cloth holds the fold lines it was rolled in, and they take time to drop. We hand-dress every panel on installation day and weight the hem to the fabric, which also settles the drift you get from an AC vent near the glass.
Fibre matters more than it looks
Most voile is polyester-based, and here that is an advantage rather than a compromise: it holds its whiteness far longer than a natural fibre, which yellows under this sun. The reasoning is in choosing curtain fabric for a Dubai home. Voile also takes a wave heading particularly well — the folds stay soft and light passes evenly instead of banding.
How we work
A supervisor visits your home free, with the fabric books, and holds voile against your own glass in your own light. Every window is measured twice. One written price per finished window within 24 hours, nothing added later, fitted on the date written into your contract, not a range, with a one-year mechanical and labour warranty. Book a free measurement — no obligation.
Questions we get asked
Is voile private enough on its own?
In daylight, on a floor nothing overlooks, yes. In the evening with your lights on, no — and no sheer is. That is a layering decision, not a fabric one.
Will voile keep my view?
Better than a textured or embroidered sheer at the same openness — there is no pattern for the eye to stop on, so a skyline stays readable.
Does voile go grey with Dubai dust?
Slower than any other sheer — the smooth weave sheds rather than holds. Vacuum with a brush head every month or two and it stays as it was.
