Linen Sheer Curtains

One written price per finished window, after we’ve measured — fabric, lining, track, fixings, fitting and warranty all inside it. Nothing added later.

Linen sheer is what you choose when you want the fabric to be part of the room. A slightly irregular, more open weave with visible slub: it hangs heavier than voile and turns light warm instead of white. It is the sheer that looks like something, not the one that disappears.

What the weight buys you

Body is the difference. Voile is fine and falls close to flat; linen sheer has enough weight to fall in a proper column and enough irregularity to catch light down each fold. It drapes better, and it reads as the more expensive fabric across a room.

What the weight does not buy you is privacy. The weave is more open than voile, so in daylight you keep more view and give away more of the room — the eye reads through the irregular gaps. If daytime privacy is the priority this is not the fabric; if drape and light quality are, it is the best of the four. The comparison across all four is on our sheers page.

Warm light instead of white light

Dubai daylight is hard and blue-white at midday. Linen's natural tone and uneven yarn take the edge off, so the light arriving reads warmer than the same amount through a polyester voile. In a west-facing living room late in the afternoon, that difference is the reason people choose it.

Linen moves with humidity — and the hem is where you see it

This is the part nobody mentions at the point of sale. Linen takes up moisture from the air and gives it back, lengthening and shortening slightly as it does. In a Dubai apartment the air at the glass is the most humid in the home — cold room, hot outer pane — so a linen sheer hanging in that gap is never in quite the same state in August as in February.

What you notice is the hem: a drop set perfectly at installation can sit differently months later. So we allow for that movement rather than cutting to a knife edge on the floor, weight the hem to keep it hanging true, and set the track off the glass so air moves behind the fabric. Done that way it behaves. Cut tight to the floor by someone who only works in polyester, it does not.

Creasing, dust, and being honest about both

Linen creases and keeps the crease — that is the fibre, not a defect, and part of why it looks like linen. It also holds dust in the texture rather than shedding it, so it wants a vacuum brush more regularly. Neither is a reason to avoid it; both are reasons to know first. Pure linen also fades and goes brittle faster at a hot window than a blend does. The detail is in choosing curtain fabric for a Dubai home.

Layering and heading

Because it gives away more by day and everything after dark, linen sheer almost always wants a blackout layer behind it on a double track — specified for two layers from the start, since retrofitting usually means a new track. The weight suits a wave heading, which needs body to curve properly rather than crease at the fold.

How we work

A supervisor comes to your home free, with the fabric books, and holds the linen against your own glass at the hour you use the room. Every window is measured twice. One written price per finished window within 24 hours, nothing added afterwards, fitted on the date in your contract rather than a range, with a one-year mechanical and labour warranty. Questions we get asked

Is linen sheer more private than voile?
No — less. The weave is more open, so you keep more view and give away more of the room in daylight. Choose it for drape and light, not for privacy.

Will the hem drop over time?
It can move slightly with humidity. We allow for that in the drop and weight the hem, which is why we ask how you want it to meet the floor before cutting.

Can it be washed at home?
No. Have it cleaned professionally — linen shrinks unevenly and loses the hang you paid for.
